"Tower House" by Carol Mason

Tower of bricks

Preserved behind glass, this tower house has been constructed from childlike building bricks. The bricks have been made using materials which were found inside the Tolbooth and placed in specimen bags. Slate from the roof, dust and mortar from the walls, birds' feathers and rope.

Each brick was crafted with the skeletal interior in mind. Nails in doors, rings in walls, bars in windows provide evidence of the building's macabre history.

Passageways leading to rooms which held perverse extremes of emotion. The captive, constrained, bound and inflicted, viewed through eyeholes by the voyeur.
